What Is Therapy?

If you’ve never been it can be an anxious moment. You are worried and concerned that someone you barely know is going to ask questions about your deepest thoughts, feelings, and events. But this is all under your control. You share what you feel safe sharing at the moment. And you share knowing that there is confidentiality within the therapy session. It is sharing what troubles you and your thoughts for finding the light at the end of the tunnel. It is a guided process of healing.

Who Should I Pick As My Therapist?

This is an individual question that does not have the same answer for everyone. It will take as short a time as possible to get you to a place where you feel safe and successful with the decisions you are making in your life. I believe in moving clients as quickly through the process as is healthy for them. Therapy moves at your pace although a good therapist will hold you accountable for progress toward the goals you set for yourself.

Some more questions you might have

01.

Do you take insurance?

I do currently accept some insurance and this can help defray some of the cost of attending therapy. I am also willing to assist you with filing your out of network claims as a service at no additional charge.

02.

Do You See children & Adolescents?

I do not see children. I have on occasion seen adolescents but this must be something in which they agree to participate. Therapy just does not work if the client is unwilling to participate. Too often I've had sulking and closed off teens in my office and it just wastes an hour of everyone's time. What I do engage in though is parental therapy where you can come and hone your awesome kick ass parenting skills to learn more effective ways to interact with your young humans.

03.

how does telehealth work?

Telehealth is nothing more than a video connection where you can participate in therapy from a distance. This is good if you have concerns over COVID-19, are traveling for work or pleasure, or are ill.

04.

are you a christian counselor?

My training is in evidence based therapeutic methods and as such I do not practice any religion based therapy. I am, however, open to discussing religion and spiritualism as it pertains to my clients beliefs and needs.

05.

Do you do couples counseling?

Yes absolutely I work with couples. Depending on your needs we will structure the sessions to meet the needs of the relationship. Your partner can join for every session or every other. I can see you both separately as well as together.
